I know what you're thinking - These are gonna scratch like crazy, but despite the way these look, they actually are safe to use on paint. These are made from microfiber, and the small holes you see help to remove the bugs from the paint in a couple of passes. When I use a towel to remove bugs, I feel like I have to really scrub at it to get them to come off. Fewer passes mean fewer scratches.
When you use these, do not apply any pressure to the paint. You want to glide your hand across the surface and allow the mitt to do the work. I recommend using these during your wash process after you have pre-foamed and rinsed. Dunk these in your wash bucket and use the soap as lubrication. That's the key - lots of lubrication and no pressure.
In my experience, these mitts are the best way to remove bugs safely. If you live in a place like Florida, where bugs are a constant problem, you should get a set.
